TARGET GROUP AND ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

This training is intended for unemployed jobseekers who are interested in working in the restaurant sector as a cook. The studies require normal work ability, good physical condition, and strong communication skills.

Applicants must have good English language skills. Language proficiency will be assessed during the interview.

DESCRIPTION OF THE EDUCATION

The scope of the qualification is 180 competence points (cp), consisting of vocational units (145 cp) and common units (35 cp), such as language studies and mathematical and civic skills. Duration of studies is two (2) years.

Vocational studies are carried out through in-person teaching at Vamia’s teaching kitchens and the kitchen of Restaurant Silveria. The study program includes several on-the-job learning periods in various restaurants outside the school. You can also apply for an international exchange to gain insight into the food culture of your host country.

The common units are mainly studied independently, for example, via Moodle courses. Finnish language lessons, however, are taught in person.
