School Transport Subsidy

If you are an upper secondary-level student with a long commute to school, you can get a school transport subsidy from Kela.

Applications for school transport subsidy can be made conveniently in the OmaKela e-service (www.kela.fi/omakela) from 1.8.2023 onwards. You will need your own online banking codes or mobile ID to log into OmaKela to make an application. Please make sure well in advance that you have one of these log-in options.

By applying via OmaKela, you can get the subsidy quicker. If you take the bus to and from school, you can get your ticket from most online ticket vendors as soon as you have submitted your application.

An online application for school transport subsidy will be introduced at the end of May. We will post more information on our website in May.

More information about school transport subsidy is available at www.kela.fi/school-transport-subsidy.
